It doesn’t matter if we’re talking workdays, days off, weekends or holidays, one of life’s most recurrent questions is “what should I wear today?”. Think of all that time spent in front of your wardrobe and mirror, in search of that perfect look… It’s crazy when you think about it, right? In the spirit of Christmas, we wanted to offer you a little gift in the shape of this style guide. A selection of killer winter looks for different occasions, featuring some of our newest drops and unusual combinations.
Winter picnic.
A good start for a simple but seriously stylish look: straight fitting white or ecru jeans, with cropped cigarette legs, in a solid cotton. Tuck in your shirt or tee and accessorize with a belt if you feel like it. Either way, we’re glad that the old ideas on how you can’t wear lighter colors in wintertime are now a thing of the past, because we can’t stop wearing these ourselves.
Denim shirts have a wonderful, timeless character – there’s a reason why designers keep falling in love with them. The ways to style them are seemingly infinite! Denim always brings that sporty and casual touch to pretty much every outfit and if you ask us, white bottoms + blue denim shirt = win/win.
To complete this outfit, go for a dark green military-style parka. With its hood, double front pockets, water repellent fabric and mid-waist cut it offers as much practicality as it offers style. A little oversized, our Hibou coat is the ideal final layer for your outfit, perfect for whatever type of weather winter’s throwing your way.
New Year’s Eve.
Holiday season, the time to take a break from it all, to get together with friends and family and to recharge those batteries before the start of a new year. Oh, and also: the time to shine at parties and get togethers. In true Bellerose tradition, we’d love to propose an outfit that combines feminine elegance and a healthy dose of comfort.
First, find the perfect pair of black pants. Sure, slim or skinny fits can work out awesome in a festive look – it’s what we’ve been seeing for years now. However, with wider pants making a comeback, now might be the time for you to try something different! Fresh and chic all at once, our Mickey trousers have a regular fit, with a straight cut and a shorter leg length bringing the kind of natural ease that always works. Contrast them gracefully with our boxy Edel jacket – a staple in our collections and simply irresistible in this cuddly teddy fabric. Underneath, our classic silk Astra shirt which has always been one of our go-to pieces in case of styling emergencies.
Paula Abdul already knew it in the 80s and we’re pretty sure you’re onto it too: opposites attract. Fashion’s no exception, so yes, go for high heel open sandals to finish this look!
Maximum comfort.
You’ve seen others rock that "staying at home style", but how do you make it your own? There are many ways – think flared cuts, loose fits, plain colors, minimal make up, athleisure elements – but we’re totally under the spell of this one particular look right now. Minimal effort, maximum comfort: get into it.
It’s hard to see in these pictures but we chose a comfy, shorter dress as our starting point. Then, we combined it with sturdy hiking boots and socks with a color accent. Go for warmer tights if you’re going to be spending more time outdoors though!
But the centerpiece here obviously is our reversible Hayat coat, which gets you two coats for the price of one. Soft creamy white teddy fabric on one side, military green cotton on the other, coupled with a comfy, straight fit and a mid-thigh length. We went teddy, because of course we would. And also because of the lovely details in the form of the simple button closure and contrasting pocket. There you go!
A TOUCH OF CLASS.
When talking outerwear, it’s important to know that your coat or jacket is the piece that can make or break your look. If you like keeping it casual but still want to go for some refined class when you put on that final layer, go for our timeless Ladji coat. It will instantly upgrade whatever you’re wearing with it. Made from a generous cotton twill in a warm, tobacco brown color it’s simply the go-to piece to add that bit of “wow”. Straight fit, shirt style collar and slightly shorter on the arms, you’ll have no issues combining it with – let’s say – a comfy sweater. Speaking of which, how about our striped Dato? Ideal. The fluffiest sweater known to mankind and quite honestly the easiest piece ever to wear as it goes with anything. Next up: the dark blue jeans of your dreams. Cropped but not crazy, high waist but not over you belly button, straight but not boring – we have a serious soft spot for our Popeye jeans.
Now that the outlines of your look are done, you just need a few extras before you head out the door for that post-Christmas brunch of pre-New years coffee. Some jewelry will do the trick, as will our striped Datys hat.
