Bellerose Playlist - Retrospective

The end of the year is nigh, so we've put together a "best of year" playlist to say goodbye to 2017. This playlist contains no less than 145 tracks which have been rocking our Bellerose shops over the past 12 months. Each track is special to us and we hope you enjoy listening to them.

To help you get to know the artists we've chosen to feature, we've also picked our 10 favorite acts from the playlist and want to briefly introduce them to you. Who knows, your new musical crush might be in this list!

Black Atlass

The 19-year-old artist is just getting his career started. Hailing from Montreal, his songs are a perfect blend of darker sounding instrumentals and his own, luminous voice. Hearing him feels like successively alternating between the hottest warmth and the iciest cold and we are addicted to this unique feeling!

BRNS

A Brussels-based pop band that has stayed true to the spirit of DIY and does everything themselves! This is a real indie band, one that will never sell-out and that is sure to stay true to itself for many years to come. We've included their song called "Encounter", released in October as part of their latest album "Sugar High".

The Blaze

An intriguing French duo that was founded by two cousins, The Blaze has been releasing hypnotizing and incredibly catchy electronic music and has quickly caught the interest of the media and music listeners alike. The track we've added to the playlist, called "Territory", also comes with a stunning, short-movie like video which you should absolutely check out!

Robert Plant

We picked this iconic artist (and lead singer and lyricist of Led Zeppelin) because we are big fans of the solo album he's released this year. To us, this record is proof that artists who've had a long and successful career are still able to incorporate newer, more modern influences all while keeping their credibility intact.

Princess Nokia

Jaques

Jaques

Princess Nokia

A feminist rapper who focuses on staying true to herself rather than giving in to the music industry's standards. Princess Nokia is becoming a role model for an entire generation of young girls and women who see her as a true inspiration. Did you know she's even held a talk at the prestigious Harvard University?

Jacques

Jacques is a French electronic music producer who uses household items and other instruments to make music. His debut album came out this year and we've been playing it on repeat! The record is actually a live improvised album that was recorded in real-time on The Lot Radio. Impressive, right?

King Krule

The young British artist has been making waves for a few years now. We're obsessed with his delightful blend of jazz, punk rock, R&B and wavy instrumentals. He does a great job at expressing the pain and struggles that come with becoming an adult--a topic that resonates for many of us!

Polo & Pan

A French electronic music duo that, unlike many artists, creates music that draws inspiration from positive feelings such as joy or euphoria. Their album "Caravelle" is an ode to travelling, both within yourself and throughout the world, and makes us long for walks on the beach and life-changing experiences.

Ibeyi

One of our absolute highlights of this year! The twins that form this duo are French, Venezuelan and Cuban. Their father is famous percussionist Anga Diaz (from Buena Vista Social Club) and his daughters' debut album perfectly mixes soft, enchanting vocals with more energetic percussions and aerial melodies.

Queens of the Stone Age

A legendary rock band we've loved for years now! To us, they are the true embodiment of rock & roll, something that has become a rarity. Josh Homme, the band's leader, is a real icon. Their latest album was produced by hit-maker Mark Ronson (the man behind Uptown Funk) and we love its disco vibes!

The end of the year is nigh, so we've put together a "best of year" playlist to say goodbye to 2017. This playlist contains no less than 167 tracks which have been rocking our Bellerose shops over the past 12 months. Each track is special to us and we hope you enjoy listening to them.
